As a born and bread European, Italian at that, I love that Europe fulfilled a purpose for you. However, I think the slow pace you experienced on your trip was due to the nature of your trip itself: a vacation.

It's true that Southern Europe lends itself to ravishing moments of pure bliss thanks to our nice weather and delicious foods, but the grass isn't always greener on the other side. If you live and work in a city on this side of the pond, life isn't all that different from the US.

Hey Naomi! Very good perspective. My wife and I actually talked to some locals and they said the same thing. They were like "I cant wait to come live in the US and leave europe" that started a very interesting conversation cause we got to both see that life isn't greener on the otherside but being able to find joy in the little things and slowing down helps you see the beauty despite the chaos. I will say though things like education system in Amsterdam really trumps what we have here in America, but they have also have their own Issues there as well.

But I think overall this was more so about finding joy in the little things which I think we experienced in this Vacation. But also knowing that theres more than meets the eye. Thanks for sharing your perspective!
