Thanks so much for reading! Yes “focus on joy”! In the next few weeks I’m writing about the idea of “fighting for joy” which goes along with this! Can’t wait to sit down and write it cause that’s the season I’m in right now. Trying to continually focus and fight for joy when society, social media and even my anxiety begins to weigh me down.

⚡️💛 when I find "pockets of joy" in my day to day life I like to relish in them a little bit deeper lately, for when the moments of anxiety or discomfort hit. Also, meditation? chanting has been filling me up with joy like I've never felt before. I also invested in a tibetan singing bowl for my 30th birthday and it has really deepened my search for joy and a discover more of my creative intuition through my spirituality. My birthday is tomorrow and just want to thank you because I "randomly" found you on substack and now you are someone I look to read when I'm cleaning up the inbox every week. hugs.

“Pockets of joy” that’s a good one! I’m so glad you are able to find things that bring you joy! I’ve seen people use the singing bowl and it looks calming so I believe you.

And omg HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I wish you many more years on this earth, Joy, peace and Love!!

Means a lot that I’m one of the newsletters you look out for every time you clear your inbox 🥲 means more than you know! I’m currently testing out sending newsletters on mondays so we’ll see how long this last haha!

Thank you Temi! This letter perfectly describes the struggle with creative change and encourages me to mourn the things I wish I did, let them go and move on to something I'm passionate about without feeling stuck.

Yes! And don’t worry it’s a journey! Easier said than done for most people but knowing that we’re grieving an old chapter in our lives helps us process the good the bad and helps us move forward to the next thing!

It’s interesting that you (and some other people apparently) think of pivoting as a potential failure. As somebody who is quite a chameleon in this sense, I have always regarded pivoting as a synonym of freedom and success. It’s added skills, new experiences, etc. If anything the only hold back is having the time/funds to fully delve into something new.

I think it stems from my cultural upbringing. As early as I can remember our parents wanted us to be doctors, lawyers, nurse etc. Anything outside of that was considered a terrible choice. Thats why even at 17 I chose "Biomedical engineering" as my major in college when I really wanted to study music / art. Took me sometime to understand how freeing it can be, but better late than never!
